New Install-Aerospace Rear Disc-Pro street Model

Just finsihed installing Aerospace Rear disc brake setup on my 86T. Install was straight forward-I did have to trim the housing some to make it fit but all is good. Went with slotted/drilled/zinc plated option on the kit. Got from Hartline for $575 and had it within 3 days of ordering.

Nice. For that price I'm not sure why everyone doesn't do this!!!
Beautiful. What size are the rotors?

That's awesome for the price. If you can go into detail about what exactly had to be modified, I might be purchasing.

Yes!

Also, sounds like it'd be real close with 15" wheels. Do they clear?

Install instructions

-removed rear end cover
-pulled out c-clips and removed axels
-removed entire drum brake set up inculding backing plates
-only thing left is the axle housing showing
-had to trim (sawzaw) of a portion of the housing to make the aluminum brakcet fit onto the housing end.
-Drilled 2 new holes into the housing and mounted the aluminum bracket.
-Mounted rotor/centered caliper/install pads/bleed brakes/filled rear end up with fluid

-I have 17" wheels so no clearence issues here

Done

Are these something that would hold up to every day street abuse?

rear disc

They are the "Pro Street" kit not the drag race version so I see no issues with usage...my car is not a daily driver...

weight savings

I did not use a scale but having the drum/brake shoes/backing plates/wheel cuyliders and all hardware in my hand vs. the Aerospce rotor and billet aluminum caliper I would say there is a differnce in weight for sure...I'm guessing 10lbs each side....just a guess...

front kit

yes-im working on that right now...but they are telling me the tire offset will change and this will cause my 245-45-17 tires to rub on the inner fender.

No Relocation Of Anything....nerver Even Touched The Shocks...only Real Mod Was Trimming Of The Axle Housing.
