Question 17X8 wheel BS and tire size?

Buying a new set of shoes for my girl, 17X8's. Just want a quick poll as to what BS and tire size you guys are running with a 17X8 wheel. Right now, the BS is set at 5.875". Is that the right offset for our cars? I have not ordered the wheels yet, so I can put the BS wherever it needs to be. I want a nice fat lip on these and enough tire to fill the wheel well nicely. The car is lowered about 1.5-2 inches on both ends. Thanks in advance!
-Derek
