Question Wastegate question...

Kinda dumb...

With engine off and wastegate arm fully extended, is the flapper closed or open?

With engine off, the wastegate rod should be retracted and closed. Unless you are using the "normally open" design that came factory on 1981 models (only 1981).

Exclamation

I don't know what type it is but it seems like the P.T.O. type. It has two vac ports. Did'nt the '81 come with just one vac port?

Reason why I asked is because I modded it for adjustment as the drawing here on the board and I lost track of the turns.

I figured if I knew what position it's supposed to be with the engine off it's a good starting point.

You should have to pull the rod about 1/2 an inch to get it over the post on the wastegate. You might want to go a little less than that. You want to start with too little boost than too much.
