I think the instructions say 8thou, but many (including yours truely) have had weeping headgaskets when using these things. I have seen many folks recommend 12thou. If I were you I would strongly recommend you call the Felpro tech line and talk to them about it. Make sure they understand you don't want a leaky headgasket  . I have heard they are recommending a deeper groove now.
