Your exactly right. The efficiency of a turbo makes all the difference. The stock turbo running 20psi is going to give you a much hotter intake charge the a larger, more efficient turbo at the same boost. There are of course other things to take into account. Alky injection, intercooler upgrades, ect. Plus, 94 octane from Sunoco is not the same as 94 octane from a place like speedway. I know here in Louisville, we dont have good quality gas.
Each indiviual car has it's own characteristics. All of these things could mean the difference in 2lbs or a degree or two of timing on different cars. An engine with 150,000 miles is most likely not going to react the same as an engine with 50,000 miles. Compression is most likely going to be different between the two.
