2010 Turbobuick.com Nationals

OK guys and gals, we have poking around the idea of having an event here in NC in March 2010. Many of you have already seen a small portion of what we have in store for you. We appreciate all of the feedback given by everyone and as stated there is LOTS more to this thing than meets the eye. Here we go….

We would like to welcome you to the 2010 TURBOBUICK.COM NATIONALS. The date for the event is March 15th – 20th. You read that right, 6 DAYS!!! There has been lots of time and effort put forth to make this an event unlike any other Buick event ever conceived in the Buick community. The event will work in 2 phases:

PHASE 1:

Monday 15th :
Turbobuick.com would like to give a very big thank you to Richard Clark as he has graciously allowed us to use his garage/dyno facility in Burlington, NC . The event will start at Noon and run until 7pm. There will be free dyno for anyone wanting to attend. This date is mainly an informal meet and greet as well as fellowship with friends (new and old), share thoughts and ideas. There will be several vendors on hand to supply you with your much needed Buick parts.

Tuesday 16th :
The shop will be open at 9am. Please bring LOTS of parts that you may want to have tested. Powermasters, Alternators, Cylinder Heads, Factory MAF sensors, Torque converters that you wish to have flushed, injectors that you would like to have cleaned and flowed, etc…
At 12 noon you will enjoy a FREE LUNCH. We will have a tech session with special invited guests in the large dyno building with a Q&A session that will rotate around the room every 15-20 minutes so you can spend time and get to know each guest speaker to pick their brain for some Buick knowledge. We will end up back at the shop and wrap up around 7pm.

Wednesday 17th:
The shop will be open at 9am. Anyone wanting any final dyno time for tuning you car feel free to do so at NO CHARGE. At 11:30 anyone wanting to caravan from the Burlington location to the racetrack will meet in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Huffman Mill road where the hotels/restaurants are located. At 12 noon you will receive a POLICE ESCORT on behalf of the Alamance and Guilford County Sheriffs Department to the gates of the racetrack to begin Phase 2 of the event.
PHASE 2:

Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th will be Test-N-Tune from 1pm until 7pm for the first ever “Turbobuick.com Nationals” courtesy of Turbobuick.com. Gate admission is $10 to spectate and $10 if you want to make time runs. You will be able to run on the all concrete 1/8th mile dragstrip at Piedmont Dragway. There will be Vendors on hand to purchase merchandise from as well as a FULL swap meet!

Friday 19th :
We will have qualifying for all categories yet to be determined. We will be running heads-up / pro-tree index racing for anyone wanting to run 8.49, 7.49, and 6.99 categories. This is open to ALL Buick powered, Buick Bodied, and SY/TY entries. We will also have a Quick 16 bracket race as well as an Open Field Quick 8 for any Buick bodied, Buick powered entry on a heads-up, pro-tree format. We will also run the eagerly anticipated “TAG TEAM” race. This race is a regular tree, dial-in race in which you will have 2 people in 1 car. The rules are to leave the starting line, stop at the 60 foot mark and you MUST GET OUT and change drivers!! Simple enough?? SO you will need someone that is good on the tree AND someone that can drive the finishline. Winners to receive a cash prize!! Also we will be giving away a FREE set of Mickey Thompson ET drag radials valued at over $400 with a raffle drawing of only $10 per ticket!! Gate admission is $15 to spectate and $10 to make time runs.

Saturday 20th :
We will have TNT for anyone wanting to make time runs as well as elimination rounds for all Heads-Up racing categories. We will run a final round of “TAG TEAM” racing as well as Bracket Racing and the Quick 8. We will have 50/50 drawings for cash money. There will be cash given away throughout the days for different incentives or “BOUNTIES” on certain race class drivers. We will also be giving away a complete FAST XFI computer system valued at over $1800 with a raffle drawing of only $10 per ticket!! Gate admission is $15 to spectate and $10 to make time runs. We will also have a Car Show for anyone wanting to compete with several different classes to choose from.

Bottom line is this event was built specifically for YOU the racers and anyone who loves the Buick brand name. There is plenty more to come over the next 8 months. We just want everyone plan ahead for next years and to come and have a fantastic time!! On behalf of Turbobuick.com we thank you for your interest and we will see everyone in March!!

There is 1 very special guest that has agreed to come and visit us in NC and all you racers and Buick followers are gonna LOVE this one!! I would like to personally thank BUDDY INGERSOLL from Zeigler, IL for making the trip to meet us Buick Folks. As most of you know Buddy set the stage for Buick Competition with his Pro Stock regal so many years ago and has agreed to make a visit here in NC for the Turbobuick.com Nationals...

Please e-mail me with questions and I will do what I can for you!!

Understand that we are still putting this thing together, with that being said I had an idea for a class. It would be called TSR (Turbo Street Radial). What this would be would be heads-up/pro tree and the ONLY tire you can use is either a 255 or 275 series BF Goodrich Radial TA. You Can't use BFG Drag Radial... Must be a street driven with proper license and Registration. That way HP is not as much of an issue as how good of a driver you can be. How fast can you go on a regular radial tire.

Thoughts??

Why only BFG street tire? This means I can't use my Firestone Indy 500s and must purchase BFGs if I want to run this class. Do you have stock in BFG.

Running on radials sounds like fun. Maybe some of the faster guys will be slowed down enough to give us slow guys a chance...

IT'S ABOUT TIME SOMEONE DONE A CLASS LIKE THIS!!!
Clint you might want to limit the tire a tad different than just saying BFG T/A radials! Doing a (Treadwear Rating) Limit would be ALOT easier for everyone. The rating is right on the tires so it would be real easy going through tech as well. Here would be my suggestion.

Make it limited to NO LESS THAN 200 treadwear rating or something and that will elliminate all your drag radials. You might even want to go up to a 300 treadwear rating!

If you were to choose a minimum of 200 TWR then also add " NO DRAG RADIALS!" just to make sure..

Here are some TWR examples:

1) Falken Azenis 615 = 200 TWR
2) Falken Ziex 512 = 300 TWR
3) BFG KDW's = 300 TWR
4) BFG Radial T/A's = 400 TWR
5) Michelin Pilot Sports = 220 TWR

I will attend this class For sure!

Let me say this IS NOT the intention of this event. I know that it is 10 weeks or so in front of BG. This simply means that 2010 will be packed with great racing events from different parts of the country. With this event in March, the 30th running of the BG Nats, BPG, and Norwalk just to name a few. I personally volunteered to help with the announcing this year at Bowling Green to help them out. They were MORE than willing to let me announce the upcoming Reynolds event with no issues. This will simply add to the choices of Buick venues. Shane wanted to have an event here in NC because he has ALWAYS wanted something for the Buick community so we just put all the pieces together and this is what came together. It is good for the racing community to come together and share in the wealth. I received information from the BPG group that they will be giving contingency monies to the winners and R/U in OUR race categories in March to members of their group. We WILL also do the same for them for the upcoming BPG event. As race operators we understand how we must work together to help keep our sport alive with innovative, new, and fresh ideas and different venues to help better accomodate our fellow racers. As with the upcoming event in Reynolds GA. this race will also payback 100% of any and all sponsorship monies to the racers via giveaways or added incentives. The only thing that we care about is to cover the track rental expenses. I have supported BG for over 5 years now and will continue to do so as long as they are running. I enjot meeting the folks from all over the country and watching some really close racing action every year in Kentucky. Im just a buick nut at heart as many of you on this board are as well. I do have my plate full with 2 back to back events coming up!! Is all good tho...

SW.
I think you might be getting a little too technical for us country folks out here to the east maybe not so much BFG radial TA but i am kinda leaning toward the 255 or 275 rating on the tire. Still with so much time coming up we can hammer out all the details. Heres an Idea. We could make it the (GNS Performance TSR race) with YOU as the title sponsor!! I wouldnt even care if you run in your own class as long as noone else cared. Maybe $400 win, $100 R/U. Whatcha say there Scotty??
