Not so fast, Goth... Two totally different situations? Let's consider reality, shall we???
The big problem in New Orleans began when their levees broke and the city flooded.
The big problem in the heartland, covering a massively larger area has been flooding, since some 30+ levees have broken or been overflowed and several cities have flooded as a result.
The differences have been more along the lines of who reacted improperly, and those in N.O. thoroughly created havoc where those in middle America have maintained civility.
In the midwest, I've heard of only a single issue... One man decided to attempt a bypass of a blockade and the cops pointed their weapons at him and took him into custody... Or was that a tornado victim???
Obviosly, the midwest has been through major turmoil this year and yet, there's been no mass hysteria. There aren't rampant murders, shootings, looting, rape, etc. Those things HAPPENED after Katrina in N.O. and surrounding areas.
I've heard few ask "where's FEMA?" and several saying things like, "This stuff happens and we'll survive and move on."
We can debate several things, but the facts in these cases as news coverage has presented simply don't show the same reaction from the people.
Those in the midwest took their warnings much more seriously, and their end result will likely be seen much sooner... to be far better for all.
