Sure you can put a stock 86/87 IC on a hot air. I just takes
an electric fan to give you the clearance for the stock IC.
If you want to keep the hot air cars cool, my experience
is that you need a bigger radiator and electric fan anyway.
Both my hot air cars have electric fans and bigger radiators
and I wouldn't go back. They both have IC's in the stock location
as well.
