Connecting a "in-windshield" antenna to the radio

I have an 86 Grand National. It has the cool graphic equalizer radio and came with an electric antenna. When I repainted the car, I removed that antenna and had a new windshield with built in antenna installed. I installed the connector from the radio to the firewall, (photo attached) so I am almost there. Unfortunately, the connector at the end of the windshield wires has been lost. And so there is just a single wire coming from the windshield. need a connector to hook up with that wire that has a male plug at the other end to plug into the connector I installed on the firewall. Any ideas?

Amazon should have stans alone plugs for GM cars to attach to a bare coax cable. Post a picture of the wire on the windshield to see what would work.

Thanks for your reply. IO will take a picture as soon as possible. The car is not here with me. I was tinkering with it yesterday. It's just a simple wire; very narrow gauge. Maybe somewhere around 10 gauge. Maybe even narrower.

I just looked at my wire stripper (see picture) The wire coming from the windshield is about as thick as the hole between 16 and 18 on the stripper

Doesn't sound like a typical coaxial cable for an antenna. Need to see it pictured stripped back about a quarter inch, usually there is the center lead which can be stranded or solid wire, surrounded by a braided or stranded shield.

Thanks guys for trying to help. But I think this part is not the answer. I need something to connect a single strand and thin wire coming out of the windshield to the standard radio antenna plug now installed on the firewall. I will take a picture of the wire next time I get over to my son's house. I am selling the car and I want everything to work.

I went out to my son's house and snapped this picture. It is under the (removed) cover at the base of the windshield. In this picture you can see the wire coming from the windshield, The new windshield went in as part of the restoration several years ago. I don't listen to the radio, so I never hooked it up. I think I remember that there was a connector at the end of the wire then. It must have broken off. You can see just to the right of the wire the plug it has to be connected to. This leads to the radio. So I need a way to get those two together.

I believe what you want looks like this. I'm not sure where you'd be able to find one unless you get it off another windshield.

That blue wire is a coaxial cable with outer braid and inner conductor that is molded or crimped onto the wire.
If you get one get one with some wire on you can spice into yours, it won't be optimum for signal strength but it will work.
I doubt they make a replacement connector end for that cable but it's worth looking for.

I’m gonna drive over to local Safelite store. They made the window part # DW00935. Maybe they can help me. Side note: the window is $225 installed. Always possible to just get a new one LOL.

I may have come up with a solution. I found an old set of cheap headsets for my old iPhone that had a connector. see picture. The male plug looks like it might fit into the receptacle on the firewall. And it is conveniently a 90-degree connector. I will give it a try when I get over to the car next time. Here's hoping. If it fits, I can just snip it off the wire and splice it to thepin.jpg bare wire hanging from the windshield.

UPDATE: I took my car to an audio expert. He confirmed that the wire coming from the antenna in the windshield is NOT coaxial. This had him baffled until he tried to see what happens if you just insert the bare wire into the firewall connector leading to the radio. Much to his surprise, the radio came to life and played clearly. Pull the wire out and back to just static. Now he is trying to find a pin connector that will fit in the cable. 3.5 mm too big, 2.5mm too small. We need to find the goldilocks pin. I think we are going to be successful on this.
